F.A.Q and General Information about the recording session
The facility is a real recording studio (not a typical party play facility), so we recommend ages 6 and up. Please let us know which song you would like to record as soon as you know, and we'll email you a copy of the song so that the kids can rehearse with ample time. The final product sounds better if the children come to the session prepared and rehearsed.
The session is 2 hours long (1.5 hours is actual recording time, the remaining 30 minutes is used to mix the song and prepare the CD packages to take home).
There is a party room and activity room for the kids to design their CD label, which is placed on their CD to take home. A digital copy can also be sent via email.
INFORMATION REQUIRED (1-2 weeks before the session date)
1. A number of children attending.
2. The name of the child hosting the party.
3. The name of the song you wish to record, so we can email to you so that the children can rehearse at home.
4. Average ages of children attending.
HOW THE SESSION WORKS:
The 2-hour session, which is themed around one song choice, consists of rehearsal, sound check, final recording, vocal edits, and CD label design. The birthday girl/boy also gets a solo recording which will add her/his CD, along with the groups recording.
Once the rehearsal is completed, groups of 2 or 3 (depending on party size), cycle through the sound check, recording process, and vocal edits. The final mix consists of a combination of everyone’s voice. This entire process takes around 80-90 minutes. Then the studio mix down process begins…
Planning to bring a cake? This would be a perfect time to serve your cake/snacks, as our staff takes about 20 minutes to prepare the final mix and burn everyone’s CD. If you want to bring additional food (pizza/snacks etc), you can have that prepared during the session as the kids will be intermittently available between sound check/recording/vocal edits.
Once the mix is ready for presentation, the final group mix will be played on the loud speakers in the lounge area. Everyone takes home their custom designed CD, which has the mix and master of the entire group recording.
When is the best time to serve the birthday cake?
The session is 2 hours in length. During the last 20-30 minutes, we mix the song and prepare the CDs for the kids. This would be the best time to serve the cake. We have a fridge/freezer to store the cake or any food/drinks
Do I need to pick a song that is listed on the website?
Song choice will be up to you. If you provide the name of the song/artist, we can (in most cases) source the song for you. The instrumental music and lyrics will be emailed to you so that the children can rehearse with ample time.
Before requesting a song, please review the song and confirm the lyrics are child-friendly. There is a list of song ideas on the website, which are ‘child-friendly’. We can also alter some lyrics to other songs if you find their wording is not appropriate. Please specifically request this if required.
When can I show up and set up for the party?
Party functions are usually booked back-to-back. The facility will be available to you 5-10 minutes before your booking time.
Where can I order Pizza from? and what time should I have it delivered?
This is what we have seen in the past, and seems to work - Pizza is delivered 30 minutes after the session starts. Since the kids will be intermittently between taking their turn recording and working on their activity.
The delivery address is 215 Doughton Road, Vaughan (2nd Floor). Pizza Nova 416-439-0000 /Pizza Pizza 416-967-1111 are close by. Delivery takes anywhere from 15-45 minutes, so it's best to order ahead, and ask to have the pizza delivered at the specific time.
